Founded in 2002, the Dorothy Ebersbach Academic Center for Flight Nursing (formerly the National Flight Nurse Academy) is supported by the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing (FPB) at Case Western Reserve University, as part of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program’s Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Flight Nursing major.

The pioneering center was renamed in 2011 in honor of aviator, nurse, and alumna Dorothy Ebersbach, who served her country first as one of 1100 Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) and later as a public health nurse in central Florida.

The Center does the following:

The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Flight Nursing Program at FPB is the first formal training program of its kind to prepare nurses at the advanced practice level to provide care to individuals outside of hospitals, but at a hospital level of care.
