The National Flight Nurse
Academy at Case Western Reserve University held its first annual "summer camp"
at the University's Squire Valleevue Farm from August 11th through the 15th.
Sixty-two nurses, physicians, pilots, firefighters and paramedics participated
in this train expercised designed to prepare teams to provide critical care in
unstructured environments such as those that follow natural and technologic
disasters. Participants, including experienced flight nurses,
commented on the personal experience of complete dependence when they took
their turn strapped to a backboard and transported on a training flight as an
accident victim. |
